Mission Statement

Great Bay seeks to accomplish its mission by adhering strictly to its principles in the evaluation of all proposals. Great Bay defines the terms used in its mission statement as follows:

Social Entrepreneur
An innovative individual with the motivation and track record of changing the status quo in any area of endeavor, and who wants to effect social change consistent with his or her principles.

Social Change
An altering of the way individuals and entities approach and deal with conditions they confront in society.

Self-Reliance
Looking to one's own resources and skills to meet one's needs.

Encourage
Reinforce the behavior one seeks by providing financial and other resources to enable social entrepreneurs to have a chance of achieving and sustaining their goals.

Principle-Based
Integrity of Means - only the Means can justify themselves.

Great Bay supports programs that:

• Result in job creation, training, new goods, products or services, and
• Lead toward economic self-sufficiency for the program, and
• Lead toward the self-reliance of the participants
