The major benefit of participant-led sessions is that every attendee has the opportunity to be actively involved in developing the schedule and in leading the discussion. Participants wrote topics of their choice on sheets of paper. These topics were then announced to the attendees, who were asked to show their interest with a show of hands. Some of the many topics announced: Measurement/Measurement Definition; Early Stage Money for Great Ideas; Defining a Common Language in the Social Capital Landscape; Social Finance in Brazil; Program-Related Investments; Attracting Blended Value; A Trade Association for Social Enterprise; Investing in New Social Entrepreneurship; Training Social Entrepreneurs to Use Social Capital; Social Media (blogs, wikis, twitter, etc.); Challenges and Opportunities in China; Legal 101—Structure in Social Enterprise; and Franchising Social Ventures.
