2005 (May) Funder's Roundtable
Great Bay hosted a small luncheon roundtable at the Cumberland Club in Portland on May 18, 2005 for Directors of other foundations in the New England Region. This was our first roundtable specifically for funders. Our goal was to initiate a dialog among philanthropists to discuss the various strategies we each employ to help the nonprofits we support achieve sustainability. Great Bay, for example, awards grants to nonprofit entrepreneurs who are creating revenue generating programs to underwrite the sustainability of their social missions. Each of the other foundations attending brought a unique perspective to philanthropy. We share many common goals and the discussion enabled us to better understand each other’s strategies – those which have succeeded and those which have not worked.
